Meet Attorney Edwin D. Givens

Edwin Givens is a native of Charleston, South Carolina and a graduate of Bishop England High School. Edwin is also a presidential scholar graduate of the South Carolina State University and a graduate of the University of South Carolina School of Law.

While in law school, Edwin served on the Dean Advisory Board, was a Student Bar Representative and was Vice President of the Student Bar Association. He also clerked two years for the South Carolina House of Representatives Judiciary Committee. After receiving his law degree, Edwin practiced civil litigation and probate law with the Newman and Sabb, P.A. Law Firm from 1994-1997. In 1997 Edwin became General Counsel for with the South Carolina Commission for the Blind, where he handled all contractual and employment legal issues for the Commission.  In January 1998, Edwin joined the McNair Law Firm, P.A. as an Associate. At McNair, he practiced in the areas of LEGISLATIVE, LITIGATION, ADMINISTRATIVE and REGULATORY LAW. Edwin was made a Shareholder with McNair in March 2004 and continued to practice with McNair until. November 2005 when he joined South Carolina State University as its General Counsel and Lobbyist.

In February 2012, Edwin formed the Law Offices of Edwin D. Givens, L.L.C .The main practice areas of the Law Offices of Edwin D. Givens are GOVERNMENTAL AFFAIRS, PERSONAL INJURY AND CRIMINAL  DEFENSE at the State and Federal level. Additionally because of its networking and collaborating skills, the Givens Firm has the ability to practice in many other areas of law.

Edwin is a member of the South Carolina Bar, The Richland County Bar, 4th Circuit Court of Appeals and  South Carolina Association of Justice. He is also a graduate of Leadership South Carolina and the Prestigious Liberty Fellowship Program. Edwin is a member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Sigma Pi Phi Fraternity and Phi Delta Phi Legal Fraternity. He is also as 33 degree Mason and a Shriner.
